I would like to attend this one. It's a great place for recruitment. There is a lot of foot traffic and interest. You can even find some snags on gear sometimes at this thing. ;D:

Gunshow guys are sneaky SOB's, they usually jack up prices like gear and whatnot. Usually, the best place to buy gear is at the ASMIC show at Bellflower. Once in a while though, theres a decent deal on ammo and guns and I might hit that if the CHG has a recruitment drive again

This event is more focused on guys who's main purpose is to cover a unit display. More so than guys shopping for guns parts and ammo. While checking out vendors is certainty a plus it isn't the main reason on deciding or not deciding to go or not.

Ok guys, Fernie and I are planning our attendance at this one. Lets get together and recruit some new blood. This year has a been awesome for recruitment and I have been getting positive responses every show I have been attending. This is the year we can really pull it together and have the Germans notice our presence in a BIG way.

Tim is correct this is a nice venue and event. Given all the eye candy and the fact this is the largest attended event of the year for the Gun Show organiziers, we get a lot of foot traffic. Also a lot of people asking questions about WW2 and some wanting to know how to research an item in their family or a family members military past.
Couple of things, the parking has changed. There is no longer a that free section we used to all park in. There is a vendor section, but it not the closest. Last year I paid for preferred parking and got real close. you can drive by that back fence area and drop things off.
Next issue, is tables, while they supply tables to vendors, because of how popular this event is the normal vendors take dam near all the tables.

Wyatt and I are planning on attending this and helping with Recruitment.
Wyatt and I can wear different uniforms representing different stages of the US uniform throughout the war. Wyatt can wear wools and I will wear HBTs.
Are they still zip-tying the weapons so we have to walk around with those things?

They will always have us check in weapons and zip tie them.
We need to have one organizied section/spot/place. In the picture you see Fernie?.... that is where Fernie & I were last year. It was half of a table.
Steve Fredricks, "has in the past", on his own dime, bought pizzas for everyone.
You can bet there will be more CHG units there this year, as some unit are renewing their efforts.

Glad to see that the effort put into this event and the efforts of years past has not been in vain.

Wyatt and I still plan on attending. We will be wearing our uniforms that we would fight with out in the field.
Would someone be able to loan Wyatt a weapon just to carry around for the event? Just a carbine or Garand.
(Wouldn't be hilarious to see Wyatt carrying a BAR or bazooka around? Not asking for those of course, just think it'd be hilarious!! ;D ;D ;D)
Hopefully this will continue to be a great recruiting resource for our unit!!

We only have one bazooka available right now and it's to fragile to take to shows. The other two are currently being retrofitted. The BAR is a possibility, but has not been returned from the field as yet.
There are still three Garands and three Springfields available at this time.
If anyone is looking for airsoft weapons for non firing events I do have source. I believe he has some AS Garands available right now.

Also remember, many people don't even bring or carry a rifle. They are behind their display tables answering questions

I'm always confused as to when these things are because they do not start a new thread from each date.

Who is they?
There is ALWAYS a new thread for each date. Also when I get my hands on the information everyone reading these forums will be the first new know. Normally all event communications goes through the unit leaders.
Also the status of this event was discussed in the CHG board meeting notes.

My mistake. When you hit the recent posts function, it has : "Soldier's Forum :: Missions :: CHG Gun Show of the West: Nov 27-28, 2010 :: Post Message" on top. But the font is so small on it and the color of Navy blue makes my eye pass right over it.

In order to enter for free a full combat attire ees required or pay the $12.00. Or jump the fence, dig under, go around, parachute in, whatever this event is fun in the sun.

I get what Mayo means. If you hit the "New Topics" button all the new thread posts pop up but on that screen they are essentially unlabelled, so if we had say three event discussions going on at the same time you'd see "Event Details" up there three times. And like he said, only the title beneath the ads tells you which one you are looking at after you open the link.

Star a new thread for the icon that cannot be seen by the Mayo eye.

Yeah, I see what you are doing and the problem.
I just use the envelopes to trigger my eyes for new postings. If there is an evelope with a woman's picture and letter I know I got a new posting. If all I see is closed mail, I know there is nothing new posted.

Dave, do you have any information on this? I don't recall anyone giving us any hard information. I'll have to work thru channels to find out.
