So dropping a line, I think I found myself a home within the WW2HRS with a unit that portrays the German 250th Infantry Division, the Spanish "Blue Division" that served in the Northern Front of the Eastern Front. Not what I expected but they seem to be a good group and I can work my way into starting a 442 unit out here. I was warned that the HRS is a bit more of a stickler organization on authenticity. But they are a ticket to the big events out in the flyover states and the possibility of starting my own unit.
However, I found local groups here in Central Illinois that kinda do their own thing. Did a Battle of the Bulge event where it was snowing, about a foot of snow and surprisingly as a public event we had a good amount of people come through and even a few veteran's braved the weather to see the reenactors and the battle. About 100+ through the day despite the cold and snow. And I got roped into a German unit as well. A good chunk of which are from right outside of Illinois State. So that fills in the easy quick trips. Heck this event was only a 30 minute drive because of the weather and we'll have a bigger one with armor (Hetzer, SPR Tiger, among others) in June.
Job search has not been that well and I'm trying to make do there, really stinks and kept me from going to a big OstFront in Kansas over the same weekend as the local event. But I just gotta get out there and "Attack! Attack! Attack!" the job market.
Tim and Phichan, if you guys can hook me up with google account related email addresses I can get you guys locked in as owners on the unit website so that can get worked on by ya'll.
