I highly recommend that anyone who has a military vehicle or plans on getting one should join the Military Vehicle Preservation Association. This is an international organization much like the NRA is for all gun owners. You get a regular magazine subscription with the membership of the Army Motors and The Supply Line which have just been combined into one huge publication. It's filled with ads and articles about military vehicles.

There are also local chapters of this group. Our own Jerry Berry has a networked group of enthusiasts here in Orange County who are on a free Yahoo chat group and they do military vehicle events all the time. The members offer all kinds of support for each other and if you have questions on anything vehicle related just ask you will get an answer from how to fix something to who to see who can. Also they are constantly putting their vehicles on display at various shows, supporting schools, parades and veterans. Sometimes they have several events going on in a single weekend. There is almost always something going on you can take your vehicle to.
In Irwindale the second weekend of every month at the AMVETS on Los Angeles Street there is a swap meet early in the morning. You can buy vehicle parts and militaria. It used to be only parts, but over the years it has developed into probably about half vehicle parts and half militaria. A lot of really good deals can be had here. It's free to go and if you want to sell, that is also free. Just show up in the parking lot and start selling. The veterans cafeteria is also open at this event and you can buy breakfast there for super cheap. The Riverside MVPA chapter hosts this event and they have a meeting there as well at every show.
In April there is a HUGE swap meet that lasts for an entire week in Lodi, California at the KOA Campgrounds there. I hope to make this show but can't say until its much closer. This again is a huge show and this one mostly has vehicle parts but there is a ton of militaria there as well. A lot of military vehicles come and drive around all weekend. The CHG 2nd ID was there last year. Some come in uniform.
