Robert Leckie has a great story he tells in one of his books. The password for the night on the line was "Liliputian." A poor Marine went out to take a piss and was making his way back to the lines. As he neared the lines, Leckie challenged him. The Marine stumbled over his words, failing at every attempt at the password and its pronunciation. After about 4 tries, the Marine called out, "Ah, crap. Just shoot me!" Lucky for him, everyone was laughing too hard to shoot him...

That Army unit you are talking about was one of my first units I went into when I came back into the Army back in 1992. When I came back into the fold, I joined the Army National Guard back in NY (which is where I'm from), that was the unit I was assigned to as an Infantryman. Lot of unit history, as well as Family history for me. A relative of my grandmother ( Joyce Kilmer), was in that unit and was killed in France during WW1. Very proud unit, with long Battle lines. But, I will be going out as 1/7 Marines again. looking forward to seeing you all again for that one. Also, I'm looking forward to seeing you all again for the January RPS event. You all are a great bunch, and it is a pleasure as well as an honor to fight with, and alongside you guys at CHG and RPS events. Stay safe, Gents, and enjoy. See you in January.
