Anyone have any details for the scenario??? I'm going to assume, ETO, I think I heard something about late war, perhaps meeting at the Elbe? Which is a cool scenario, we did it once a few years ago, back when I was a Buck Sarge!
If it's late war, obviously almost anything goes that would appropriate for the ETO.
-M41 or M43 Uniform -Wool Uniform -Service boots with leggings -Rough out boots with leggings -Combat boots (double buckle) -OD3 or OD7 or Transitional Field Gear. -HBT uniforms (trousers) early and late. -Overcoat -Mackinaw -5-Button Sweater -Haversack -Fighting knife -Bayonet -M1928 Haversak, GP bag or M6 Gas mask bag, Musette Bag (Officer's) ***If you are not an Officer, you are not allowed to wear a Mussette bag**.
I'm sure I missed some stuff, as far as specifics go. Keep in mind by 1945 supply lines for the US troops had caught up with the Army's demands. Lots of the old gear sitting in supply dumps was making it to the front en masse along with the brand new gear that was being sent up front.
At this point i the war, all belligerents knew the war was closing. So at this point, veteran GI's were doing as much as possible to make it home alive, you see more soldiers being reserved about their actions. This feeling was reflected by a lot of commanding officers who would try to hand out light duty patrol assignments and such to veteran units to try and keep them out of harms way as much as possible. The Germans, who were also feeling the strain from six long years of war were surrendering more and more. The exception would be the fanatics who were down with the cause. This can be a fun battle if both sides are more willing to take prisoners, and if the actions are a bit slower as well. Not to say it was leisure time by any means, because we were also trying to race the Soviets from taking ALL of Germany, we wanted a piece of the pie as well. So, I think this could be a very fun battle if we start getting the juices flowing earlier on! Let's get this ball rolling troops!

The HBT blouse was seldom seen on the Frontlines therefore we do not usually allow that.

Earlier on in the ETO. What I'm saying is, if it's 1945, and we're meeting up at the Elbe, the 69th ID, as well as many other units would have the HBT tops as well. *** We are not the 69th ID*** However, yeah, any earlier, and the troops didn't like having that extra crap. The end of the war was a good mix of all sorts of uniforms hitting the front. Replacements were all but gleaming in the new 43's with a lot more OD7 gear, folding shovels and the like. While a lot of the gear hitting the front would be a mix of whatever the QM had lying around, 41's HBT's, whatever. It was just getting moved to front.

Question: for those of us that have cots do you want us to bring them for those that did not get on the Registry?

As it stands now, each barracks building is overbooked by 5 or more spots. The cots are for these people, i.e. people who DID register, yet there is no bed in the barracks waiting for them.
The cots are NOT for, last minute "hay guys I've decided to come now".
Those who decide to show up, and are unregistered will need to sleep someplace other than the barracks.
Our unit has (16) spots, so if someone drops out, it opens a spot for someone else in our unit.
If our unit is pared up with the 101st which has (34) guys, it puts the count at (50) and the barracks have (45) beds.

This event is a week away...
I haven't seen or heard any discussion regarding
1. Carpools - are all 16 guys covered for rides 2. Ammo - At this point everyone should have ammo - no excuses 3. Battle Fees and CHG Dues - some owe for 2011 a few still owe 2010 as well 4. There will be a Authenticity Check at line-up prime focus on haircuts and mustaches - next gear and clothing. Don't be embrassed, fix it now 5. Remember to start drinking water early next week. 6. Everyone have proper bedding for Camp Roberts?

The only two NCO's who are attending this event are SSgt. Burgess (Platoon Sergeant) and Cpl. Hodgson. You guys need to step up and organize this friggin mess before the whole friggin event turns into a dog and pony show!

I think there is an officer going too so you NCO's that are going help out the old man before we all get put on report.

I'm set with everything, even had some money and got M43s. Except I have to get another blanket, but I will take care of that tomorrow. I am a bit curious about what to put in the k rats that is available at the store.

Sergio in a pinch you can always get a can of tuna. Clean it up and if you have a can of Olive Drab paint cover things up. Thrown in a few nice crackers and your ready for combat.

If you go to "Big Lots", they have a cardborad container that has Chicken Salad and Crackers in it made by "Brunswick" on the one of the canned food isles. The contents fit nicely inside a K Ration Box. It also tasted good unlike Tuna without spices and mayonaise.

You can get "Potted meat" from the canned section of Walmart too, but it's real salty and tastes like crap. Another meat source is to do the underwood deviled ham or chicken.

More like a McRib that's been left out for a few days that never got any barbecue sauce.
