Heart Shield BibleJeff Copeland told me about "heart shield bibles" that the GI's had. They are the new testament, covered with a metal place. They went in the pocket of your shirt, and the metal plate shielded you heart, ergo the name Heart Shield. Jeff told me they go for $100, I go mine for half of that. They can be found on ebay from time to time shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=m570&_nkw=heart+shield+bible

That's your most valuable piece of "equipment" Dave. Good find. I have a WW1 New Testament I got from Andy Gomez at the Flagstaff battle. BTW - saw your "long, lost footage from the Nov 07 Camb Roberts. It was awesome! Loved the "Combat" music.

Very cool and an interesting "one of a kind" type item. Somewhat related. Here in series of "field" tests (these are no true scientists, just guys with lots of experience with weapons, ammunition loads and their effect on ballistics) on what a normal book can do to stop a bullet: www.theboxotruth.com/docs/bot31.htmDon't be put off by their initial assessments, I believe his #2 conclusion to be true... Heck the bullet stopping Bibles may very well be the Heart Shield variety. But for sure I don't think any light weight item in your pocket can stop a directly fired bullet unless its fired from an extreme range which is very unlikely.
