NCO's, if you wanted a smokey bear hat there are a couple accessories you will probably need to complete them properly. One is the leather chin strap, Jerry Lee at What Price Glory carries those, that's easy. The hat cords are harder to find in light infantry blue. US Cavalry carries them online. www.uscav.com/productinfo.aspx?productid=11181&tabid=548Be sure to pick the infantry blue.

Hey Tim, I think I showed you that WWI era Campaign Cover I had. I think it was tagged as a M1912 (or something I don't remember the number). I'm dressing it up as a Marine Issue so no Cords (though I think even back in the day range officers wore a special cord to signify that they were large and in charge at the range).
You wouldn't happen to know where I could look for the ribbon that goes around the vertical portion (like that of fedoras) Its missing the chinstrap and ribbon, the first is easier to find, I found a source for the 2nd but they just provide loose bits of ribbon in various colors and I don't have an original photo to go off of to get the right color.

That's a tall one. I'm not that well versed on Marine issue caps. They might not have had anything different from the Army prior to WWII. I honestly don't know. As for where to find those ribbons again I can't answer that one. Hey Tim, I think I showed you that WWI era Campaign Cover I had. Thats fine Tim. I'm pretty sure its the same as issued in the Army. Earlier pattern for sure. Does look similar to the picture that Victor posted. Mine comes to a bit more of a point on top which makes me think WWI or 20's.
I think that picture gives me a good idea of what color the ribbon is.
Thanks gents!

If you are unable to find the right band, you may have to resort to making you own band if you can get the right color ribbon.

One person in our unit who knows a bit about these hats is Jeff Finney. You might want to drop him a PM.
