Here is a Living History Event gone wrong. It's a Marching Through History event back east in Maryland. A unit goes out to Dinner, and upon their return finds their encampment on fire. www.driftingfocus.com/blogs/?p=8103

Jeez. They lost 10-15k worth of stuff in that fire? That's a lot of web gear and firearms they lost there.
Anyway, I think this is a good reminder for all of us to never use open flamed torches as illumination for tents. Even with closed lanterns, we should make sure that it's all safe to make sure it doesn't drop on the ground or leave it unattended. And speaking of leaving stuff unattended, I don't wanna sound like a dick but its mostly their fault for the whole unit to leave their stuff like that where other than a fire, someone could just waltz in their camp and sneak away with their stuff.

Yeah, this just sucks. I echo what everyone else has said. This could have easily been prevented. Just imagine what could have happened if the other reenactors had not stepped in? This could have been a lot worse than it was. My heart goes out to those guys losing all of their stuff, but sheesh..
