This was another WWII television series, which was set turning the Italian campaign. While Combat! had a lot of action, this show had a lot of dialog. Combat! was so popular it spond new shows: The Gallant Men was one of them. It was only on one season, but for the WWII guy it's fun to watch. Here is the closing credits with character/actor introductions Here is a short clip from one of the shows [googlevideo]5918275442675197754[/googlevideo] Here is an episode listing www.tv.com/the-gallant-men/show/5940/episode_listings.htmlHere is were you can buy the DVD www.tvaddicts.tv/movie/action/The_Gallant_Men.html

I have the entire first season of "The Gallant Men" which I have downloaded to Video Ipod. I download them and then watch them later. The Gallant Men is all set in Italy. But I stumbled on one espisode done in the Pacific. Also I stumbled onto one espisode which actually involved the 442nd. At the recent CHG meeting I gave Tim and Fernie a copy because I knew they would be there. So it will interesting to get their take on the espisode, as I haven't seen it yet. Since it was done in the earlier sixties, its got the standard Japanese actors of that time.

I watched it last night. I had never seen "The Gallant Men" although I had heard plenty about the show. The mannerisms of the the 442nd actors was definitely Hawaiian but man, what a corny portrayal of Japanese Americans. Still it was a lot of fun watching as the show was very much like "Combat!".
What was even cooler was watching who the 100th Battalion actors were. Lots of familiar faces in their early careers. I had no idea that Sulu had done a war script before and it was odd seeing him as a WWII soldier.
