Ok, we are camping out.
We should have three jeeps and the pyramid tent. Bring shelter halves if you want, the tent should have a capacity of 8 if everyone uses cots. Am working on the meal details now.
There have been no requests for loaner weapons yet, so the BAR, Garands, etc, are still available.
We should have at least one .30 cal, maybe two, two .50 Cals, one, maybe two bazookas and one or two rifle grenades in our squad. With the jeeps we want to be fast and mobile, but will have to base this on attendance within our unit.
I have room in my van for 2-3 riders and am working on another carpool in the Lakewood/Artesia area.
Get your blanks NOW!!! Time is growng short. If you want to use the BAR, you need to buy your BLANKS ASAP. Be sure the buy the longer BAR blanks, not the usual Garand ammo. You have to contact me to reserve the BAR. We will leave Friday O-dark 30am and plan on the usual stopover for breakfast on the way. Camp and meals in the field.
Despite what will probably be lower attendence since we don't have barracks, I don't expect it to be that much lower. People are very excited about this ahd many are flying in for it. This was a major reason we could not change the dates as quite a few people had already paid for airline tickets and booked their flights.

Official notice has not yet been given but from the unit leader votes cast it looks like the battle fees are now reduced from $40 to $30.

For a variety of reasons the armor for this event has been scaled back
Germans (2) Halftracks (1) Hetzer
Americans (1) Stuart (1) Halftrack
There will probably be Jeeps and Kubelwagens
We will be camping out in Tango Uniform most likely

Sharlene will be dirty, but flirty nonetheless, as most of you already know ( she needs a powder). I will also bring an extra tent and equip for those who draw short sticks for the tent. There will be a tent heater. Please bring 1 or 2 bags of Kingsford edge brickettes for the heater. It will stay toasty if we plan logistics. And lastly, perhaps we can chow hall for some good food?

You can pretty much count out, firewood, firepit type camp fires. The most we will be allowed is coleman stoves and gas burners like the one the Germans had at the last battle at Lost Valley

Pops has not posted that he is going to the November CHG battle yet on the 101 forums. He is a member of these forums also. I would either call or ask him if he is going. I know Joe Muffly wanted to buy 200 rounds of Garand blanks. He needs someone to order it for him from Pops because he has no ammo and is coming via airplane from Colorado. You guys need to talk to Pops, Atlanic Walls, or Swansen's if you need ammo ASAP.

So we're driving our own POVs clear out to the battle area?? Will there be clear CHG signage so we dont get lost? Should be easy to find the area Randy. Same one we have been using for several years now. Follow the same road to the barracks we normally use and keep going to the end of the one way road, contine past the Stop sign, make the first right turn and keep going until you get to the cross roads where we usually Park POV's. There ought to be signage beyond that point. Probably will be signage in the usual spots prior to that.

Ok cool, I just want to make sure he got my order of 200 grand blanks. If you need blanks from Scott "Pops" Pitts, Post-up so we know how many to order. Quite a few people have already made reservations for some of these blanks so do not wait. If you order make sure you pick it up. Price is still $40.00 per 100 rounds for 30-06s. Joe, if Pops knows about your order then your good to go. Here is a quote from Pops at the 101st site:I will have 1300 rounds of 30-06 and 200 rounds of carbine for this event. No other calibers
Price is same as before.
I have very limited internet as of right now due to a storm knocking out power to a repeater station on Sunday. Right now I am posting this from Matthew's laptop at the Mcdonalds in town.
21firematt, your carbine ammo is already accounted for and not counted in the above amount.
Speak up now.

Although 1stSgt Mayo does have one for LT to pick up along with the tent, it would be a good idea to bring an additional one. Also DaveP is bringing the period correct US Flag, Lt is bringing the poles for it, and I am bringing the bugle for Flag detail for Assembly, Reveille, Retreat & Taps for the night. Posting Unit Signs is a great way to let people know of our proud "Red Bull" Country. It is what identity is all about. To the Colors on Bugle: www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSEVv9JfXaw

Actually Randy's sign is more apporpriate for an out-in-the-field period encampment. So for sure Randy Bring it.

We bury the pipe in the ground and just set the pole inside that. That's it.

I made up a new sign for the 442nd. Based on this period photo. I can't identify the symbol on the sign so I substitued the 442nd patch although the patch wasn't seen in use until the end of the war, it's what we usually wear.

The allied camp looks like it's in a different spot than last time. I believe that's the road we took last time when we followed the 9th to the wrong jump off point. Hope they have good signage to the campsite. I did loan 2nd Armored our CHG directional signs.

There is a slight curve ball. The Camp Base will be very crowd this weekend. Accordingly they don't want the reenactors to come in through the normal enterance and check-in. Instead we are to enter on East Garrison, Exit 245 WEDNESDAY 11-04-2010- We have just recieved a notice with the base that the Main Gate to the base will be closed. They are having us enter the base from the East Garrison entrance on the north side of the base. All normal check-in procedures will be handled there (such as firearms check in and vehicle passes). From here, there will be signage leading us to Tango Uniform. Important note: Base Operations does not want us routing down our typical road from garrison to TU on Perimeter Road. So, please, have your troops follow the CHG signage and not their muscle memory. The shortest route around SatCom will be scouted tomorrow. The East Garrison Exit is exit 245 This is the view Here is the view (That over pass is the Main Gate Bridge we usally come at) This is the actual exit

Today the 2nd Armored advance scouting party will be scoping out the best alternative travel direction to the battlefield. This diagram shows all the alternative routes. While the roads will be clearly marked. If we recieved word, we will post which route was chosen. Otherwise make a mental note of the general layout of the area.
