The weather report may change. That is why I am waiting to report the weather until Friday. Those of us who are going to this battle will go for Saturday only. If it snows or is raining, the roads in that area are not going to be safe. We will then cancel out attendance. I will update the weather on Friday night.
The weather report has already changed: It looks like possible rain on Thursday and Friday. 30% chance of scattered showers on Saturday. No snow in the report. That is why I did not jump to any conclusions. The weather up there may change three more times before Saturday. I will keep you all updated.

Update on the weather:
Today, Apr 7 Few Showers 45° high 30° low 30% chance of rain
Fri, Apr 8 PM Showers 40° high 29° low 30% chance of rain
Sat, Apr 9 Partly Cloudy 46° high 36° low 20% chance of rain SO FAR IT LOOKS GOOD TO GO. THERE IS NOT ANY MENTION OF SNOW. A MINIMAL AMOUNT OF RAIN IS NO BIG DEAL. WE WILL NOT BE SLEEPING OUT THERE.

Hey guys,
Just got off the phone with my unit leader. He and a couple others spent the night at Ozena, and say there is no snow and the roads are open.
The weather looks to be improving and he sees no reason to cancel the battle. I will be heading up there with chuck in the morning.
My two cents. See you up there.

Thank you for your report Ward.
Also from the CHG President:
Latest info: Tom Read of 2nd Armored had passed through Lockwood Valley at roughly 1745 and stated that he saw no Chains Required signs up and that snow was patchy, but not abundant and not on the roads. So, the initial snow reported did not stick and perhaps authorities took the signs down. Several members have opted to turn around due to them not having chains. Thus, this battle will be lightly attended. Many members have also opted to push through and try it out. Because of the uncertainty of who will decide to come out, I am going to lower the battle fees to $5 per person, which is our per person cost owed to the owner of the site. John Marketello agreed with me that this was only fair to those who attempted the trip when I spoke with him. Tom Read is the latest person I spoke to heading in to the Valley and thus will make contact to those who are already there. I am leaving the fate of the battle up to them as I cannot tell what the situation is from Long Beach nor do I know who is still going. They will talk about it tonight and reevaluate tomorrow morning. I apologize that the information has been spotty and that I do not have a clear decision to give to you. I thought about cancelling it today, but others thought that wouldn't be fair to those who have the capabilities of getting out there and were enroute nor to those who already were in the Valley waiting for others to show. Thank you for your understanding of the situation. -Anthony Ardisone President CHG
