We are a WWII historical reenactment group. Our battles are private battles for our own enjoyment. We also participate in public events but mostly for recruiting purposes or to support our veterans, especially the 442nd vets.
Historically the 442nd was a segregated all Japanese American unit. However, per our club Bylaws we cannot discriminate in our recruiting so we do recruit anyone regardless of your ethnic background. As long as you are old enough and responsible enough you will be welcomed in to our unit.
What we do is anyone who is of Asian decent can join the unit as 442nd. Its a small select group and not all of us are Japanese. If you are not of Asian decent you join our unit as an infantryman in the 34th Infantry Division. This was the unit the 442nd spent more time with overseas than any other although there were more. The 442nd held a special bond with the 34th and look fondly on them to this day.
Our unit represents an I&R platoon of an US Army infantry Division in WWII. This was typically a small unit of 25 men commanded by a 1st lieutenant in jeeps and they were the 'eyes and ears' of the regiment. As such they were usually out front of the unit probing the front lines and looking for the enemy. Setting up ambushes and gathering intelligence and reconnaissance.
If you are new to reenacting or if you have been around a while feel free drop me an email at kanowarrior@yahoo.com or PM me here and I will be happy to discuss the hobby or our unit with you. Typically the club tries to have a battle once a month, but we also do many public events, parades and even occasionally get film work opportunities.
Lastly... this is a HOBBY and we are all here for our own reasons. Mostly because we want to have fun. This is what a hobby is all about. Some will say its to honor veterans. Some because its to study WWII. Whatever your purpose, it all boils down to having a good time and enjoying the company of others.
We are always looking for new recruits and have NO unit dues. There are club dues of $25 once a year and battle fees paid per battle, usually $25 or $40 for a National Battle which we hold twice a year. Cost also includes blanks, food, water, gas and of course collecting your own uniforms, gear and weapons. The 442nd does have crewed weapons, loaners and I personally make a commitment to help members find their own equipment at the lowest cost possible so they afford to fully kit themselves out. I am always there to help and phone call away. I also provide rides to battles.
Welcome to our forums and hopefully you will stick around awhile and make yourselves at home.
