Just curious how many Baseball fans we have. What is your favorite team (Boston Red Sox for me), and are you up to date with 40's Baseball??? This could be a cool thing to make come alive with your first person (if you like that sort of thing), know who won the World Series! 1940 - Cincinatti Reds Vs. Detroit Tigers, the Reds won the series, 4 - 3 1941 - New York Yankees Vs. Brooklyn Dodgers, the Yanks won the series, 4 - 1 1942 - St. Louis Cardinals Vs. New York Yankees, the Cards won the series, 4 - 1 1943 - New York Yankees Vs. St. Louis Cardinals, the Yanks won the series, 4 -1 1944 - St. Louis Cardinals Vs. St. Louis Browns, the Cards won the series, 4 - 2 1945 - Detroit Tigers Vs. Chicago Cubs, the Tigers won the series, 4 - 3 Well there you have it, the winners are listed first if anyone gets confused. Previous to 1940 the Yankees had won the last four years in a row, bah. Another note, in those days there were no "division series", ALDS, ALCS, etc., etc. They didn't start that until the 60's, however it is interesting to note the different teams of the era, and even modern teams old locations, it's neat to look up the info. If anyone want's any more information this is the best site on baseball ever. www.baseball-reference.com/If you go to the post-season tab, you can locate all the years of all the World Series ever played, and if you click on that team you will see the roster of that team for that year, pick a player, do some research, find a favorite and add it to your impression! Know some stats, league standings, however you want, in those days everybody loved baseball and could recite batting averages like the alphabet. Great fun!! -Burgess *EDIT* Look at the ages of some of those players during the 40's, not a whole lot of young guys...... hm..........
